Understanding the FCRA
Fair Credit Reporting Act
Property Focus is not a consumer reporting agency as defined in the Fair Credit Reporting Act ("FCRA"), and the information in the databases has not been collected in whole or in part for the purpose of furnishing consumer reports, as defined in the FCRA.
You are prohibited from using Property Focus to do any of the following:
- Determine someone's eligibility for personal credit or insurance, or assess risks related to existing credit obligations.
- Make decisions about hiring, promoting, reassigning, or retaining someone for employment (this includes household workers like babysitters, cleaners, or contractors).
- Use the information for any personal business transactions with others (such as renting an apartment).
Please see our Dos and Dont’s page for more information.
If you need to access information for these purposes, you’ll need to use an FCRA-compliant service, such as:
- Employment: GoodHire, HireRight or S2Verify
- Credit: Equifax or TransUnion
